Welcome!

Hello, everyone!  Welcome to my blog.  Thank you for taking time out of your day to read what I have to say.  This blog is about two years in the making.  I hemmed and hawed, thought about it and ignored it.  Now, I'm finally writing it.

A little about my blog:

What is Project Spread Love; and how did it come about?

Leading up to and after the 2016 presidential election, I noticed so much hate in the world, in our country.  Yes, the hate was there way before that, but it seemed more noticeable, more publicized than before.  Especially the divide in our country between Republicans and Democrats.  Seeing this hate, this pain and suffering, this hurt, this broken world impacted me.  I felt helpless.  I can't save the world, I can't solve all the problems, I can't make everyone feel safe.  But I wanted to somehow make the world a better place.  Even if it was just with baby steps.

That's how Project Spread Love started.  It's really simple:  every month I make a donation to a different charity or organization.  It's a small thing, but it's my way of putting a little love into the world.

Why a blog?

Actually, the blog wasn't my idea.  I was talking to someone about my Project Spread Love, at the same time that I was participating in a writing contest that she knew I was in.  She suggested that I write a blog.  Combing my love of writing and my love of giving.  Two years later, and I'm doing it.  Plus, if I can raise awareness for different charities, that's great, too!

Are you going to ask me for money?

That's a good question, but a little difficult to answer.  Let me explain.  I will not ask you for money for my benefit.  The monthly donations I make are made with my money.  This blog is not a way for me to make money, and get people to fund my donations.

However, I do some fundraising for the year.  (I participate in the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention's Out of the Darkness Walk.)  I may post about that.  If I do post about my fundraising, there will be a link to the charity website for donations.  And if I do post about fundraising, please don't feel obligated to donate.  I know not everyone supports the same charities, or even has the disposable income to make a donation.  And that is okay!

How often will you update the blog?

The goal is once a week.  Maybe more.  We shall see!

What are you going to write about?

Oh yeah.  I haven't even talked about that.  Honestly, as of now, it's a work in progress, you can say.  I know I'm going to post about charities that I donate to.  I want to share news about good deeds.  May an inspirational quote every now and then.  I am open to suggestions, too.  Let me know what you think I should post in here.  Maybe you have the best idea ever!

Anything else?

A couple things.  First, please be kind and respectful.  Maybe I donated to a charity that for one reason or another you don't support.  Please don't comment hateful or hurtful things.  This blog is about love.

Also, unless otherwise noted, any thoughts or opinions I share are mine and mine alone.  I speak only for myself.  And, again unless otherwise noted, the charities that I write about are ones that I support.  Unless I'm donating to someone else's fundraiser, or it was a recommendation by someone, I cannot tell you who else supports the charity.

Thank you for reading!  Comments are welcome.
